Visiting scholars and fellows in residence at the Yale Center for British Art, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, and the Lewis Walpole Library assemble every few weeks on a Monday in New Haven to offer informal presentations on their research projects undertaken in the collections, to ask questions, and to engage in conversation over lunch.
Typically three to four presenters talk about their work to an average audience of 20 to 25, made up of other visiting researchers, graduate students, faculty and staff. Meeting other scholars and staff, networking and hearing of others’ research, the questions and suggestions that arose from discussions, and the practice of organizing and presenting on ongoing work were the most valuable parts of the experience for presenters. Everyone agreed the program should continue, and the schedule for the autumn is being finalized. For more information please write to susan.walker@yale.edu or cynthia.roman@yale.edu.
