The Mysterious Mother: A Staged Reading

The Lewis Walpole Library and the Yale Center for British Art are collaborating to present a staged reading of Horace Walpole’s 1768 play The Mysterious Mother on Wednesday, May 2, at 5:30 pm at the Yale Center for British Art Lecture Hall. Directed by Misty Anderson, Lindsay Young Professor of English, University of Tennessee, the performance will feature Georgina Lock, Nottingham Trent University Lecturer and former professional actress and screenwriter, as the Countess of Narbonne and professional dramaturg and theatre historian Chelsea Phillips (Assistant Professor, Villanova University) as Adeliza. The script has been abridged by David Worrall, Emeritus Professor of English at Nottingham Trent University. Like Dr. Worrall,  Drs. Anderson and Phillips have been Fellows at the Lewis Walpole Library.
